| Bio: |  Name: Gerard Ari Stevens Date of Birth : May 16th, 1992 Age: 16 Race/Species: Nature Sprite Hometown: Farmington, MN Physical description: Ari is tall (6'1") and thin (135lbs), but not lanky. He hit puberty early, which makes him look older than he is (which helps him get away with as much as he does). His eyes are baby blue, hair brown, and his features are both well chiseled and soft, which lets him fluctuate between looking like an angel and looking like a devil. He has tunnels in both ears, a nose ring, a tattoo sleeve on his left arm, a butterfly on the inside of his right wrist, a few various scattered over his chest and back, and 'Love Life' (ironically) on his knuckles. PB: Josh Beech Personality: Ari is a brat. He's moody, adolescent, and he thinks he knows everything. He would sooner roll his eyes at you then offer a smile. His style is a mix of punk, emo and goth, whatever it is that makes him look tough. Having been called a sissy as a child, and having pretty cutesy butterfly wings, Ari does whatever it takes not to look like he's all frilly and lame. He's not afraid to get confrontational, but he's a lot more bark than bite. He's also prone to not wearing shirts because it's too uncomfortable with his new wings. Background: Gerard and Sarah Stevens were an up and coming yuppie couple from Minnesota. Because of a history of cervical cancer in Sarah's family, they weren't sure if she would be able to have a child successfully. So instead of finding out (and possibly ruining her perfect figure), the couple found a surrogate mother who looked enough like Sarah that their child, and the neighbors, wouldn't question its lineage. What the Stevens did not know was that the surrogate mother they had chosen was a nature sprite who had fallen onto hard times and deserpately needed money. Of course she didn't tell them what she was, because no young couple from the suburbs would want a child from a woman that was considered a freak. The sprite justified her actions to herself by telling herself that the child would only be half sprite, so therefore it couldn't possibly look too strange. It probably wouldn't even show signs that it was different. And for the first fifteen years of its life, the Stevens' son seemed totally normal. He went to preschool, played with his friends where he shouldn't, made a mess of his room. And because his parents were loaded, and he wanted for nothing and had no actual problems to speak of, Ari naturally rebelled against his parents and the cushy lifestyle that (ironically) funded his acts of anarchy. He got tattoos from seedy friends of friends, pierced himself all over, cut and styled his hair in ways that would annoy his parents the most, drank, smoke, experimented in drugs and had stupid, irresponsible teen sex. It gave Ari the false sense of worldliness and street smarts that suburban kids are so well hated for. Half his rebeliousness was his own personality, and half was peer pressure. As a child, Ari liked being outside more than inside. He liked playing in the grass and getting dirty and chasing the squirrells and rabbits that dared walk over the perfectly manicured lawns. Animals seemed drawn to him, and often his walk to the bus stop in the morning was accompanied by some creature or another. Ari liked nature, and being happy with it. His open love of the great outdoors came to a screeching halt, however, the year he turned eleven. The very first time someone saw him petting a bunny and called him a fag. He didn't know exactly what a fag was, but he knew it was bad, and that being one would be social suicide. So from then on he scorned the outdoors, even though he would get moody and bite peoples' heads off and go stir crazy from staying inside too long. He scowled and shunned the little bunnies and chipmunks that followed him about, threw away the flowers and plants that once cluttered up his room. And then he did everything he could to prove that he wasn't what that word was (which he didn't actually know the meaning of until two years later). It was easy enough to hide his real self when it was just animals following him and the sweet allure of nature calling. But when a pair of pretty, fluttery, shimmery green wings sprouted one morning, when his body finally made the decision to look either sprite or human, the problem became too big to hide. After his parents freaked out fruitlesly attempt to find the surrogate mother (another great surprise for Ari), the Stevens finally got some useful help from one of the many doctor consults. A specialist in Minneapolis, who happened to be an elemental, immediately recognized the problem and recommended a place for Ari to go until he was "comfortable" with his new body. Abilities: Has the ability to coax plants to grow and thrive, and can communicate (nonverbally) with animals. Weaknesses: Is weakened by everything that harms plants- prolonged exposure to extreme cold and heat, flame and ice, poisons, etc. Being inside too long weakens him and makes him stir crazy. | ||||||||||
